We at Master Abrasives continue to improve our offering both technically and commercially to ensure that we offer all our customers a complete engineered solution.
We do, however, also need to consider market pressures and the costs incurred in the production and running of a business and in line with our normal policy we will be implementing a general price increase of 3.5% from the 1st March 2020. All branded partner price increases will be applied separately.

On 9th September 2019, Master Abrasives officially opened its Polish sister company, Master Abrasives Polska Sp. z o.o. at its office in Katowice, offering its solutions for industry to manufacturers in Poland.
Located on Walentego Rozdzienskiego Avenue 188C in Katowice, the new Master Abrasives Polska office is ideally located near to the S86 expressway, A4 and A1 motorways and DTS. The company has built a presence in Poland since appointing its representative for the Master brand over two years ago. Slawomir Klisiewicz will be a vital asset in leading the new company in Poland, having many years of experience in the abrasives industry. He is responsible for the organisation of sales, logistics, and cooperating with new customers in Poland.
Commenting on the new office in Poland Paul Batson, Managing Director said: “We have successfully worked with Slawomir over the past two years to offer the Master brand to customers in Poland and now is the ideal time to reinforce our presence by the opening of Master Abrasives Polska. We will be working closely with the Aviation Valley in Poland, famous for its aerospace industry centres and we’ll be targeting aerospace and automotive companies who can benefit from our technical applications experience.”

Master Abrasives has recently appointed Efren Robles as their agent in Mexico to support the customers they work with on a direct basis and to technically support their current Mexico-based Master brand distributor as and when necessary.
Paul Batson, Managing Director, explains: “Efren is representing us to develop and support certain customers who wish to deal with us on a direct basis and to work with ABBRE, our official distributor based in Monterrey. Primarily Efren will be there to provide support for the precision Master range of conventional and superabrasives along with allied products such as high precision dressing rolls and tools. His background as an Automotive Manufacturing Engineer makes him ideally suited for this role as he has experience in applications engineering and troubleshooting of grinding products and machines. But he will also be offering support for the entire Master range of mounted points and carbide burrs and the ZIPP Air Tools range of industrial and fastening tools in his role.”
In June 2017, Master Abrasives appointed its first representative in Mexico, ABBRE. This Monterrey-based company is a distributor for the MASTER brand of abrasive products, including mounted points, carbide burrs, precision dressing tools and finishing media and consumables. Since the appointment of its representative in Mexico, the Master brand has gained recognition in the market and Efren will help with the growing need of support.
Master Abrasives currently has export partners in several areas, including Mexico, Poland, Malaysia and Turkey. Their distributors can offer the full Master brand of abrasives and support on customer applications. With their new agent in Mexico, Master Abrasives will be able to provide further support for customers, recommending the best solution to suit their application and production requirements and assist with product trials as required.
Master Abrasives has installed its first vending machines following its new partnership with Polish manufacturer ASD Systems.
Two rotary drum D1080 vending machines have been installed at Doncasters Precision Castings Deritend in Droitwich for their consumable abrasive products such as burrs, mounted points and belts, all supplied by Master Abrasives. The company is a world leader in producing investment cast and engine ready, machined, industrial gas turbine blades in nickel and cobalt based superalloys. Committed to continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and rapid prototyping, Deritend is a world leader in offering specialist capabilities to the industrial gas turbine market.
The vending machines by ASD Systems provide 24/7 secure access to inventory using login and pin, RFID, barcode, magnetic reader or QR code. This system gives management more control over withdrawals and accessibility of a wide range of industrial items including consumables, personal protective equipment and tools, but Master focuses their vending solutions on the control of abrasive consumables.
The Master vendor managed solution appealed to Deritend for its array of business benefits. Andy Wright, Business Development & Sales Manager from Master Abrasives, explains: “Vending machines are an excellent way to improve stock management and productivity in industrial settings by reducing the time it takes staff to locate and withdraw consumables. The software provided gives managers transparency on what items are used and by whom, resulting in accurate control and reductions in the usage of consumable products. The process of vending benefits companies even further, giving them an audit trail of the issued items and ensuring only approved equipment and tools are accessed to be used for the correct application, resulting in less scrap and approved parts being produced by approved methods.”
Many other manufacturers are seeing the benefits of investing in industrial stock solutions and are in the process of discussing their requirements with Master Abrasives.
The vending machines are provided by Master Abrasives along with machine installation and set up, training and the option of a complete vendor managed stock agreement involving the supply of the consumables as part of a managed contract with restocking as required. ASD Systems machines can be connected to the internet to produce reports and send automatic emails with the number of items used and information required for restocking machines. The software can also be accessed for real-time data on usage per employee, product, or other filters.

Master Abrasives has installed one of Micromatic Grinding Technologies economical grinding machines at Cengar Ltd, a manufacturer of air saws based in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Cengar’s team has taken advantage of the special showroom offer that their partner Master Abrasives is holding this summer. Their new grinding machine, the eco 200, will be used in the production of parts for the tools they manufacture at their facilities in Halifax. As a distributor of Cengar air saws, Master’s technical team fully understood the application requirements and provided complete support for the installation and training process.
Steve Randerson, Production Manager at Cengar said: “This new machine has met all expectations and we were delighted that it was fully operational within two days. Our operators were trained on the functionality of the machine and soon gained confidence in producing production parts. This investment is part of a continuous improvement program which will see productivity rates increase to meet our customer delivery demands.
