Master Abrasives has expanded its range of cut-off wheels by offering also hot pressed wheels as well as larger diameter cut-off wheels.
The expansion of the Master range of cut-off wheels allows the company to offer better suited cut-off wheels to markets such as the foundry industry. Paul Batson, Managing Director, states, “There has been a gap in the Master product offering in when it comes to both hot pressed wheels and larger cut-off wheels. This addition to the range provides our customers a more complete range of abrasive consumables from our economical range.”
Previously the Master range has included cut-off wheels up to 300mm in diameter. Now the range includes reinforced and non-reinforced wheels all the way up to 1700 millimetres.
The hot pressed Master cut-off wheels are designed to provide efficient cutting of gates and risers in the foundry industry. These wheels are reinforced and they provide outstanding performance for most foundry cut-off applications but are exceptionally productive for the cutting of large gates and risers where heavy feed pressures or heat build-up within the cut make cold pressed wheels unsuitable. The wheels have rilled sides for cool, free-cutting action providing less operator fatigue and more cuts per hour. High-strength fiberglass is moulded into the wheels offering high resistance to breakage. The new hot pressed straight and depressed centre wheels are available for swing-frame and chop-stroke machines, with diameters ranging from 406.4 to 762 millimetres.
The new Master cut-off wheels are also available in Poland, mainland Europe and Mexico from Master Abrasives’ sister companies, and through the company’s distributors throughout the rest of the world. Master Abrasives has been appointed the sole UK and Ireland representative of the range of precision grinding machines manufactured by G&N Genauigkeits Maschinenbau Nürnberg GmbH, targeted at the semiconductor industry.
Paul Batson, Managing Director of Master Abrasives, explained “Ever since we made a strategic decision to add carefully selected capital equipment to our portfolio to enhance our key product focus of consumable abrasives, we have been very conservative in our selection of partners to represent. We announced our offering of cylindrical and centreless machines through our partnering with Micromatic Grinding Technologies a few years ago, followed by Alex Machines Tools for surface and double disc grinders and Thielenhaus for polishing spindles. I am very pleased to announce that following discussions with G&N we have agreed that the development of a relationship between our two companies would be mutually beneficial and as a result they have now appointed us as their sole UK and Ireland representatives, allowing us to offer top-quality machinery and wheels for new markets. I am also very pleased to add we will also represent G&N in Poland and Mexico via our sister companies Master Abrasives Polska and Master Abrasives Mexico.”
Expressing G&N’s view of the cooperation, Hermann Moos, Managing Director of G&N Machines, commented “With Master Abrasives G&N found a partner that is very well positioned not to just promote G&N’s products in UK, Ireland, Poland and Mexico, but also to provide access to local customers and markets, as G&N’s products perfectly complete Master’s product portfolio. This not only results in a win-win situation between Master and G&N but also customers will benefit from this alliance.”
Over the past 80 years, G&N has sold over 15 000 machines and gained a wealth of grinding knowledge manufacturing high-precision surface grinding machines for machining of metals, ceramics and semiconductor materials like silicon, GaAs, sapphire, and others. The German based company offers a full range of vertical surface grinding machines with machine programmes varying from small manually operated table machines and semi-automatic machines up to the fully automatic wafer grinding systems.
G&N combines their vast grinding experience with the data accumulated by working in close partnership with customers and various institutes, to further optimise their grinding machines and continuously update them with the latest innovative technologies. The company has a wide portfolio with machines developed for metalworking, metallography, thin sections, test cubes, semiconductor, and photovoltaic industries. To ensure maximum customer satisfaction they do not only offer R&D and assembly but also a range of services from after-sales service to customer service and repairs, spare and wear part replacement, overhaul and modernization, maintenance contracts as well as training and consulting.
The team at Master Abrasives is already very familiar with a wide array of grinding processes as the company is a leading supplier of its own MASTER® consumables. Master Abrasives has a dedicated applications engineering team to deal with customer enquiries for technical products such as grinding machines. Master’s team is looking forward to combining their knowledge with that of the G&N engineers to give their customers the best service and assistance with their grinding machine purchases.
